Sharp working culture

Sepanjang aku kerja kat SHARP, tak pernah aku datang lambat or MC..heheh..aku seronok betul kerja kat sini, tak terkata..compared to my last 2 jobs..and Alhamdulillah, gaji aku kat sini almost double the salary aku dapat in previous job. Actually, masa interview, interviewer tanya berapa expected salary aku, aku cakap dengan terus terang,bahawasanya aku tak tau berapa standard salary untuk position ni, and also, aku cakap, aku tried to do some research in the internet to find the standard range, but couldn't find any...jadi aku berfikir kejap, aku cakap aku mintak RM1800..
Aku pun tak tau kenapa aku mintak RM1800,it was so spontaneous. Then aku nampak the Chinese lady a bit surprised, and also the 3 Japanese guy (when I said 'guy',jangan terbayangkan jejaka Jopun yang hensem2 seperti Takeshi Kaneshiro ye, to tell the truth, the guys are about in mid 40s..hehehe).

Jadi dia pun menulis di dalam kertas interview aku tu..aku pun berfikir kejap, eh RM1800 tu terlalu tinggi ke?Atau terlalu rendah? Aku pun balik dengan hati yang terbuka, takpelah, ada REZEKI, adala tu,takde REZEKI walau bijak camne pun, tetap takde, tol tak? Lagipun bapak aku ada pesan, orang Jepun ni lain sikit, dia pilih kita bukan berdasarkan kebijaksanaan kita ke apa ke, tapi pilih atas dasar EQ dan jugak disiplin kita dan jugak cara pembawakan diri kita semasa berinteraksi dengan diorang.

I was so excited masa Admin dia call aku the next day, cakap aku dah di shortlisted for the job..yeahhooo!! But, excitement tu bertukar tawar sedikit bila dia kata top management sedang membuat pemilihan untuk few candidates. Alamak..ramai ke kena shortlisted..aku dah hopeless..dahlah aku careless tak bagi sijil, tapi nasib baikla dia suruh aku cepat-cepat fakskan @ email sijil-sijil aku tu..maka seperti Superman, dari Kajang (masa tu balik rumah mentua), aku cepat-cepat kemas barang, bagi Sharif makan, then cepat-cepat tinggalkan rumah mentua,drive balik Melawati..sampai Melawati, pergi rumah Kak Dah, cari sijil, bawak pergi Achik (nama kedai fotostat), dan mintak diorang fakskan ke SHARP. It costs me RM1 for each single page., and total aku kena bayar was RM15. Ceh,mahalll!! Tapi, itula dinamakan pelaburan yang berbaloi kerana aku telah diambil bekerja. Alhamdulillah..ini rezeki aku, Sharif dan jugak Janik sebab takkan nak duduk goyang kaki kat rumah menghabiskan duit gaji dia nanti, tol tak? :-)

First day datang kerja, awal gila aku datang, lalu KESAS, sampai sana pukul 7.15 am..alamak, awal lagi ni, pergi makan dulula kat kedai luar Sharp tu.. then aku pun masuk 7.30 am..tapi masa tu parking lot masih lengang, sebab ramai yang belum datang kerja..aku pun duduk tercongok menunggu kat depan entrance tu sampai pukul 8.15 am..orang-orang yang lalu lalang sume pandang-pandang aku..aku rasa malu jugak sebab rasa macam penjenayah yang tunggu masa nak curik barang-barang Sharp.hahahha...tiba-tiba aku nampak pintu entrance tu terbukak, rupanya ada cleaner Bangladesh yang tolong bukakkan, dia pandang aku macam apa..takut betul..hello, aku dah kawin ok?ada anak sorang lagi..so takpayahla pandang-pandang aku..buat aku malu ada la..aku pun duduk kat lobby,dan tunggu lagi sampai pukul 8.45 am..takde sapa yang datang dan tegur aku..tiba-tiba ada sorang pakcik keluar dari pintu Admin, aku pun cepat-cepat tanya, Cik Afifah ada? Oh,staff baru ye?pakcik tu tanya,aku senyum dan angguk je, dia pun cepat-cepat bawak aku masuk Admin room tu...

Masuk je situ, Cik Afifah tu pun bawak aku masuk bilik kecik yang aku mula-mula masuk masa interview dulu (untuk isi borang), then explain kat aku pasal Sharp, working culture, contract etc..bila melihatkan keramahan dia, hilang terus gemuruh aku, she was soo friendly and natural. Lepas tu, masa dia keluar sekejap nak amikkan kasut untuk dipakai dalam building (in Sharp, we have an official white shoes to wear, macam kasut sekolah), aku ternampak la komen-komen yang interviewer bagi pada aku dalam borang interview aku tu..all were good comments, tapi taklehla disclose what was it kat sini..heheh...it will be my secret forever, but reading it, has made me the happiest human on earth :-p


Lepas tu, dia pun tunjuk kat aku offer letter aku..before baca offer letter tu, hati aku berdebar-debar..berapala gaji aku dapat agaknya..sikit ke banyak ke dari yang aku mintak..lepas tu aku pun baca the ayat one by one..bila tiba pada gaji, hati aku melonjak kegirangan..memang tak terkatala..bagi aku gaji yang dia bagi tu aku memang tak bermimpi..hahahha...I was like "what??banyaknyaaa!".....tapi after a while, bila difikir-fikirkan semula, mungkin dia consider aku yang duduk jauh,kos ulang alik,experience in previous job (although none is related to this new job) and etc..the rest cuma mereka je la yang tau :) Alhamdulillah, aku bersyukur gila..lagi aku semangat nak kerja..hahaha...aku teringat bapak aku ada cakap, the difference between local and foreign company is, local company doesn't really care about the staff welfare, but foreign company does. That's why, aku dengar, Japanese company kalau bagi bonus, memang setahun pun tak abis lagi digunakan.hehehe.. Rezeki yang Allah bagi pada aku ni untuk aku dan Sharif..Janik biar dia kerja sendiri. :-p hahahha


Then, about 9 a.m, aku dibawa ke department aku, I had imagine a dull environment, with serious looking people in the department, and the answer is yes, memang pun, my first day memang buat aku stress a bit sebab baru nak kenal kerja baru. But luckily, people in the department are very friendly and helpful. I have 3 boss Jepun, which i call Boss Besar, Boss Tengah and Boss Kecik, one supervisor (the one who interviewed me), and 2 teams (Design and Planner team). Aku di dalam Planner team. Team yang buat User's Manual hanya untuk AQUOS LCD TV sahaja. All those 3 bosses duduk bersama-sama kitorang, with no partition or gap. Yang membezakan diorang dengan kitorang cuma jenis meja dan kerusi sahaja. Boss besar is Director of the department (Product Planning Centre), Boss Tengah is the Manager of the Department, and boss kecik is the Assistant Manager. Any leave or forms will be approved by Boss Tengah. Boss besar selalu ke luar negara. Boss kecik yang akan deal direct dengan these 2 teams.


Satu cara kerja Jepun yang aku tengok, diorang very sistematik. They even have their own working system which is called 5S. And the system must be followed by each individual.


The 5S's are: (credited to Wikipedia)


Phase 1 - Seiri (整理) Sorting: Going through all the tools, materials, etc., in the plant and work area and keeping only essential items. Everything else is stored or discarded.


Phase 2 - Seiton (整頓) Straighten or Set in Order: Focuses on efficiency. When we translate this to "Straighten or Set in Order", it sounds like more sorting or sweeping, but the intent is to arrange the tools, equipment and parts in a manner that promotes work flow. For example, tools and equipment should be kept where they will be used (i.e. straighten the flow path), and the process should be set in an order that maximizes efficiency. For every thing there should be place and every thing should be in its place. (Demarcation and labeling of place.)

Phase 3 - Seisō (清掃) Sweeping or Shining or Cleanliness: Systematic Cleaning or the need to keep the workplace clean as well as neat. At the end of each shift, the work area is cleaned up and everything is restored to its place. This makes it easy to know what goes where and have confidence that everything is where it should be. The key point is that maintaining cleanliness should be part of the daily work - not an occasional activity initiated when things get too messy.

Phase 4 - Seiketsu (清潔) Standardizing: Standardized work practices or operating in a consistent and standardized fashion. Everyone knows exactly what his or her responsibilities are to keep above 3S's.

Phase 5 - Shitsuke (躾) Sustaining the discipline: Refers to maintaining and reviewing standards. Once the previous 4S's have been established, they become the new way to operate. Maintain the focus on this new way of operating, and do not allow a gradual decline back to the old ways of operating. However, when an issue arises such as a suggested improvement, a new way of working, a new tool or a new output requirement, then a review of the first 4S's is appropriate.

A sixth phase, "Safety," is sometimes added. Purists, however, argue that adding it is unnecessary since following 5S correctly will result in a safe work environment. Often, however a poorly conceived and designed 5S process can result in increases in workplace hazard when employees attempt to maintain cleanliness at the expense of ensuring that safety standards are adequately followed.

Sistematik tak system diorang?And aku difahamkan yang system ni dipupuk sejak diorang kecik lagi. Sebab tu Jepun maju dan berdisiplin.

Lunch time, senior aku ajak aku join dia lunch dengan kawan dia. Turun ke kantin, aku ingatkan ramaila orang,rupanya sikit je orang, bila aku cakap 'eh sikitnya orang', kakak tu pun bagitau yang rupanya Sharp punya lunchtime berbeza untuk setiap floor. Aku punya lunchtime is at 12.00 p.m, tapi ada floor yang lunch time pukul 12.10 p.m and 12.20 p.m. Sadly, the lunch time is only for 40 minutes, tapi 40 minutes pun sebenarnya dah lebih dari cukup untuk makan minum dan berborak. Makanan kat kantin tu murah sangat, dengar cerita Sharp subsidize. Bayangkan lunch meal aku tak pernah exceeds RM 3. Sometimes aku ambik ayam, sayur, telur masin and nasi separuh, baru RM 2.50. Terkejut tak? Aku lagi terkejut.hahahaha...Kalau exceeds RM 3 pun sebab aku ambik kari jepun. Kari tu mahal sikit, tapi bukanla mahal sampai RM 5 semangkuk. 40 minutes lunch time is only for Monday-Thursday. Friday pulak macam goverment, break 1 hour 45 minutes. dari 12.45 pm - 2.30 pm. Lega aku, bolehla terbongkang sekejap kat surau ke mana-mana ke..hehehhe..

Working time ends at 6.00 p.m everyday except Wednesday, kitorang abis kerja pukul 5.10 pm. Tupun sebab GM bagi balik awal untuk staff spend time dengan family. And the best part is, every Wednesday ada aerobik. Aerobik??Yes, aerobik! Aku akan join starting next week..hehehe..di dalam usaha untuk menguruskan kembali badan yang dah macam makcik beranak 12 ni.hahahah..

I miss my slim time during confinement and Shariff baby dulu.Ni sejak duduk rumah kak dah la aku gemok. Kak dah pulak kata, ala takpe mas, ko breastfeed, badan boleh maintain. Jadi disebabkan dah disogokkan dengan teori-teori sebegitu, aku pun makanla banyak-banyak for double, triple and quartlet.hahahaha..gila, masa pregnant dulu pun tak makan banyak camni. Masa Shariff fulltime breastfeeding, memangla aku kurus and boleh maintain, sebab masa tu dia belum start makan apa-apa lagi, jadi betullah, kalori aku burn a lot. But since dia dah start makan, I couldn't reduce the quantity I took dulu. Kalau masa dulu aku makan 2 kali tambah, aku tetap akan makan 2 kali tambah, macam dah biasa, and susah nak dispilinkan diri. Hasilnya??hehehehe..badan yang macam makcik Santa Klaus..Kalau aku disguise diri aku pakai baju Santa Klaus, mesti orang akan ingat aku betul-betul makcik Santa Klaus..oh noooo!! Nak tengok tak gambar aku dari kurus sekurus-kurusnya masa pantang, sampai sekarang..dengan pipi yang tembam, montel dan tangan yang debab macam raksasa..oh noooo!!!

seronok baca cerita ko...hehe...slmt bekerja...kerja rajin2...org jepun tak suka orang malas...eh semua orang kot...ahahha...aku dgr ofismate aku cerita yg pernah keje kat kilang, keje kat kilang ni mmg best sbb byk subsidi...hehe...best tu dpt save byk...jimat2...

betul2..and every year kat Sharp ni ada salary increment on every April. Confirm ada walaupun sikit..tu yang seronok, and end of year, confirm ada bonus..this year minimum bonus 1.9 months..tapi kakak senior depan aku ni dapat banyak sangat..rasanya la..sebab dia dah super seniorita,dah almost 12 years kije dengan Sharp ni,see,kalau bukan benefit bagus, mestila dia takkan kerja lama sini kan?Pastu pulak memang ramai la super senior and seniorita kat Sharp ni, at least 5 years..
